PRANAYAMA

'YOGA' is manufestation of the pursuit for prossessing a sound and healthy soul.
While Yoga is a physical exercise, Pranayama rekindle the vital force asnd sprititual awaking of the mind. Thus Yogasana and Pranayama are closely inter-connected.

Pranayama an art of breathing control through the following process:

1. Inhalation (taking full breath slowly into lungs)
2. Retention (holding full breth in the lungs)
3. Exhalation (releasing full breth slowly out of the lungs)

Pranayama can be practiced in various sitting posture of yogaasna (Padmasana, Siddhasana, Moola Bandha, Jalandhara Bandha) and standing position of Uddiyina Bandha)

Techniques of Pranayama

In the elementary form of Pranayama, you should practice the process of the respiratory conditions of Inhalations, Retention and Exhalation in the following manner.

1. Sit in the postion of Padmasana and close the eyes

2. Press the left nostril with the little finger of the right hand

3. Inhale deep breath through the right nostril and press the right nostril with the right thumb.

4. Hold breath in the lungs for few seconds (5 seconds at the begining and time should be increased gradually)

5. Exale slowly through the left nostril while the right nostril remains closed with right thumb.

6. Free the nostrils and keep hands on the knees.

This completes one cycle of Pranayama. Repetation of the cycle should be increased as per capacity and available time.

In this context, functioning of the NADIS' (tabular channel) inside nostrils is noteworthy. This Nadis are "Ida" "Pingala" and "Sushumna" which are called by the name of Moon, Sun and fire respectively.

Ida Nadi Starts form the left nostril. It is cool and regulates human thoughts.

Pingala Nadi starts form right nostril. It is hot and regulates energy and vitality in human body.

Sushumna Nadi is at the point of where both left and right nostrils meet. It is moderate by nature and regulates wisdom and knowledge leading to sprirituality.

Thus the perfect flow of with the help of pranayama provides the human beign a good health, mental peace and long life.

Moola Bandha, Jalandhra Bandha, Uddiyana bandha and Kalpalabhati are the main techniquies that are practiced while performing Pranayama

Benefits of Pranayama

The benefits of Pranayama is manifold. Its stimulates all the glands and internal body organs, on the other it purifires the tabular channels inside the nostril. As a result of regular practice of pranayama the body becomes fit healthy and mind becomes clam and peaceful.

Without Pranayama "Yoga" is incomplete and so it is called the Soul of Yoga.
