Yoga Cure for Asthma

Asthma Causes

Asthma is a condition where the air passages of the lungs, become inflamed, then air passages get inflamed, they become red and swollen and start to swell. Sticky mucus or phlegm is produced. All these factors narrow the airways, making it difficult to breathe. This results in coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and a tight feeling in the chest.
Asthmatic attacks can be triggered by allergies, exercise, cold air, pollution and stress related disorders.
 
Yoga cure for Asthma
 
Yoga uses postures and breathing techniques (pranayama) to increase the lung's airflow, air capacity, stamina and reduces stress. Simple relaxation techniques also help to reduce stress, regulate breathing patterns and also improve lung function.


Yoga asanas with its gentle stretches and poses help one to gain flexibility and strength. Pranayama helps to focus on proper breathing, which is an integral part of all yoga exercises. It helps in breath control and helps one to stay calm during an asthma attack. The relaxation aspects in yoga help in calming the nerves. Thus, the practice of yoga helps to combat stress, reduce physical tension and muscle tightness. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system and feelings of well -being are produced.

Chronic Asthma patients can get good results by maintaining a disciplined life and regular yoga practice as mentioned below.

Morning:

1. Get up early in the morning around 6 am. Take full glass of water and pass out morning bowel

2. Perform Surya Namsakar procedure

3. Regular outdoor light Jogging in the morning is essential for asthma patients. During the morning air remains fresh and full of ozone which is beneficial of asthma patients,. However when it is too cold or foggy or at the time of changing season asthma patients are advised to stay indoor and practice light exercises.

4. Perform Pranayama breathing exercise of Kapalbhati

5. Have light breakfast with bread butter and ginger tea mixed with holy basil leaf(if possible)

Evening:

In the evening do light stretching exercise in empty stomach

Then after a rest of 5-10 minutes in Shavasana practice the following yoga posture according to your ability without stressing yourself

 

Note: Asanas should not be attempted when a patient is under asthma attack even if it is mild.
 

Asthma Diet

Take two spoon full of pure honey in the morning. Take tea mixed with ginger and tulsi (holy basil) leaves.

Some of the more common foods to cause allergies include:
Milk and dairy products.
wheat as in bread, pastries, and pasta.
Corn such as corn syrup, and corn starch.
Peanuts.
Soy.
Eggs.

Try avoid these foods if you find you are getting sudden asthma attack after taking this foods

 

To eat:

  • Reduce the amount of sugar you eat.
  • Avoid fried foods.
  • Eat smaller meals - watch your portion sizes.
  • Speak to your doctor about an exercise program.
  • Drink 60 to 80 ounces of water every day

To avoid

  • Avoid processed meats and processed cheeses.
  • Add more fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Eat lean meats, poultry and fish.
  • Reduce white breads and pastas and replace them with whole grains.
